Review: Numenia and the Hurricane

‘Numenia and the Hurricane’ is a stunning book that is based on a true story about an inspiring little bird (a whimbrel to be exact) who fought her way through a storm.

The first thing you notice about this book is the incredible illustrations and design. It is truly beautiful to behold and there are plenty of sparkly details (particularly on the cover) that make it really stand out. I loved the page layouts, the birds, the colour scheme, the shimmery feel to the pages and the placement of the words.

As I said earlier, the story is based on a true story of a little whimbrel who got lost in a storm and then have to make quite the journey – the story is well paced and will keep you turning the pages, as well as make you really feel for the plight of Numenia. The writing is lovely and lyrical and a joy to read.

One of my favourite pages

I highly recommend this visually stunning book that is incredibly well written and just utterly captivating to look at.
