“Up in the garden, I stand and plan – my hands full of seeds and my head full of dreams.”
Kate Messner

All kids loving getting outside and spending time in the garden and the dirt. This books sums up that wonderful feeling and is super informative too.The stunning illustrations and lovely lyrical script make it a beautiful read for kids age 4 and up.

The story follows a young girl, her Nanna and their gardening adventures over a year with all its seasons. It has just the right balance between story and educational value – teaching children the importance of every aspect of the garden from insects to seeds, and animals to dirt.

The earthy illustrations are some of my all time favourites that feature plenty of details in its landscapes as well as all the creepy critters. The layout of the book is well designed with a longer style than most picture books and thicker quality pages.

A beautiful story that is perfect for any little gardeners! 🌿🌱

My little one is obsessed with ants and caterpillars now, so this book sounds like something he’d really enjoy. Thank you for the link to the illustrator’s website. Pictures are as important ( if not more) as the text in children’s books, but we often forget to look up the artist’s name and other work ❤📚 🌞

Oh how sweet! I think anything that encourages little ones outside and away from screens is fantastic and this book had me wanting to start a garden! Haha.
True, it’s easy to forget the illustrator website, but super important! They do just as much, if not more, input than the writer ❤️
